Internship Lean Manufacturing Engineer [N-448]
Job Description Summary
This role supports to help planning and execution of Lean strategies and metrics providing support to various levels throughout the organization in order to link project metrics to strategy objectives by using the lean tools to ensure efficient production by maximizing utilization in restricted factory area. The role requires an individual that is able to facilitate and drive change in a fast paced and ever changing environment leveraging strong interpersonal skills. Key to success in this position is the ability to identify and drive operational improvements at all levels utilizing a very hands on approach to creating value.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Track and update project milestones and help to identify and resolve issues,
Provide associates a good understanding of Lean tools and processes,
Ensure that project teams apply appropriate Lean tools and techniques,
Collect and analyze process data, help identify solutions, and implement improvements,
Link Lean activities to the business objectives and develop transformation plans in collaboration with site project teams,
Develop and communicate of best practices for continuous improvement methodology in a manner that influences organizational thought and behavior,
Lead value stream mapping, process flow and line balancing studies to identify bottlenecks and eliminate waste,
Develop and write policies and procedures for manufacturing processes, includes quality, production, paperwork flow, product flow and waste control,
Coordinate and facilitate Lean committee meetings,
Track and report key metrics on lean activities.
Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
Effective written and interpersonal communication skills in both English and Japanese.
Ability to develop a clear, long-term strategy for Lean including vision, milestones and measurable results,
This role requires advanced experience in the Manufacturing & Lean Manufacturing. Knowledge level is comparable to a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college.
Knowledge of power industry and understanding of manufacturing processes,
Ability to lead, manage and communicate with all levels of operation,
Ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects,
Lean experience with manufacturing industry background.
